There are some pretty big alligators in the Amazon. We also have the Caiman crocodile. We see so many of them each day that we forget about them, but it is still amazing how they will sit perfectly still as you pass within a few feet of them. Here is a video of an 8 footer. He is just a small one to us, but he still looks good.
