CAMPING
When
we stay in a place for a long time, we sometimes will build a shelter big enough
for us all to tie our hammocks under, but generally this will not be the case.
 |
This is what our usual sleeping arrangement will
look like. Each man will have his own tarp and hammock. Since it can rain at
anytime, it is always best to put up a tarp before going to sleep. We can make
shelters out of jungle materials, but the tarp is the best and easiest way to
stay dry. Keeping ourselves and our supplies dry, is the most important element
of traveling in the Amazon jungle.
|
|
Most of the time we will try to camp in a place where there is a
sandy beach or big rocks along the bank of the river. Good sites like
these are not always available and then we will have to camp on The
muddy river bank. |

 |
Rocks are the best place to camp
because, It is easiest place to wash clothes, dry fish, take bathes etc.
Rocks are always a very clean place to camp, and staying clean in the
Amazon jungle is essential to morale. |
