You pull your boat up to a big rock to take a rest and stretch your legs. Then you start noticing these strange little indentations in the rock. What are these you ask? Well, the Indians or Natives of the Amazon, will find a special kind of rock and spend days grinding it down on a big granite rock by the river to make a stone axe head. Some of these axe sharpenings are 2 or 3 inches deep and 2 or more feet long, and when you consider that they were made in solid granite, you realize the incredible amount of work it took this indian to make his stone axe. So you walk along looking at them and then you notice that one of them still has some powder in it from the grinding process. And that is when you realize that these are not relics from some ancient civilization, these people are still doing this today and they were here just a few weeks ago.
The Amazon jungle is as big as the Continental USA and is 70% unexplored, and as of yet there are still hundreds of tribe that have never had any contact with civilization. They live exactly as the natives lived when Christopher Columbus first set foot on this continent.
